Barter is evolving

The oldest form of human exchange, barter, is undergoing an unexpected evolution. In times where rising cost of living, increased inflation, and low economic security prevail, a new way to access services without resorting to money is emerging through a generation of new applications.

Basically, the exchange, now in the digital environment, doesn't happen through money, but by using time, knowledge, and skills. For example, someone with programming experience can receive help learning a new language, or an experienced cook can receive help filling out their tax return, all without paying a single dollar.

The SACO app, developed by two spanish entrepreneurs, wants its users to use minutes as the unit of exchange. Each user who provides a service will accumulate minutes that can then be used to request help from another person on the app, a "barter in a modern and digital version", explained Kazuhiro Tajima, one of the co-founders.
